Dear local organizers and volunteers for the Kucinich campaign in North Carolina:
I'm sure you have all heard the news by now- it has been a big surprise for everyone to learn that Kucinich was dropping out of the race. It is sad and unfortunate, yet it seems to be a wise decision for Dennis so we can be sure to have his voice in Congress, even if we can't have it in the White House. He has now turned his attention to his congressional bid for re-election, as I understand he has been under some harsh attacks from the other candidates wanting to take his seat. I want to thank each of you for all the hard work you put into this election, and remind you that our work has not been in vain. As Dennis has reminded us time and time again, we are building a movement, and it's not about this election or this candidate. In supporting Kucinich, we have contributed toward increasing the awareness of our fellow Americans about the state of our nation and their part in improving our future prospects. And to that end, there is still much to be done. I am encouraging volunteers to find out about other networks and stay active in promoting the progressive causes that we fight for. Here are some ideas: Help keep Kucinich in Congress and go to http://www.kucinich.u... to find out how you can help. Progressive Democrats of America, which was formed from the Kucinich campaign in 2004 and continues to work hard for the same platform that Kucinich represents. Find or join your local chapter to get involved. http://www.progressiv... In our state politics, the Progressive Democrats of North Carolina have endorsed Dan Besse for Liutenant Governor, whose environmental policy and other values will be a great asset in our state government. http://www.danbesse20... To help get out the Democratic vote and make sure we get a Democratic president, get involved in precinct organization with your county's Democratic Party leadership. http://www.ncdp.org/... Promote HKonJ on February 9th in Raleigh for the NAACP's annual march for the anti-war, anti-poverty, and anti-racism coalition. www.hkonj.com Sign up at http://www.integrityn... to stay involved with this movement started with the 2008 presidential run of Dennis Kucinich. Volunteer and get involved to support legislation that Kucinich has put forward, including impeachment ( http://www.impeachbus... and http://www.coalitionf... , non-for-profit healthcare (http://www.healthcare... and http://www.healthcare... , end to NAFTA and the WTO, global warming and conservation of energy and the environment, end to war in Iraq and illegal buildup of war against Iran, equal marriage rights, or whatever your particular interest is. They all need more support and volunteers. Keep meeting with your local Kucinich meetup group to stay connected and keep the movement alive in your community. We can keep communicating at our yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.c... I am hoping that we all stay connected through a collaborative effort that links the various issues under one cause for humanity. Thanks again for all you have done and continue to do to make our world a brighter place. It has been so rewarding to work with all of you and be met with your enthusiasm and great leadership in our efforts. Please stay in touch, and hopefully we'll be working together again soon. Best wishes and peace to all, Gloria Mahin 919-357-6712 |
